The Pakistan Senate passed an amended version of the Army Act under which anyone found guilty of disclosing sensitive information considered “prejudicial to the security and interest of Pakistan or the armed forces of Pakistan” will receive a five-year prison sentence. The bill also forbids anyone from engaging in political activity for two years after leaving or being discharged from the army. The house then bypassed routine procedures in order to pass the act.
